From 1971 to 1985, Mr. Barket was in the private practice of law with Howell, Price, Howell & Barron and Barron, Coleman & Barket with emphasis on general litigation. From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Barket worked with the Merrill Lynch Regional Capital Markets Group in Little Rock. He then served as a Vice President with the Shearson Lehman Brothers Regional Institutional Sales Group.
Mr. Barket returned to the private practice of law in 1990 with the Davidson Law Firm, where he was involved in numerous, complex business and securities litigation matters, and securities arbitration cases. Since January 1997, Mr. Barket has been in a solo practice of law. He is a member of the NASD Board of Arbitrators and the Securities Section of the Arkansas Bar Association.
Mr. Barket was a member of the Board of Directors of the Little Rock Port Authority from 1993 to 2006, having served as Chairman from 2000. He served on the Board of Directors of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce of for the same period. He has also served as a board member for numerous charitable institutions over the past 30 years.
